The Lousiville Municipal School Board of Trustees approved in a special called February 21 meeting to hire Mississippi School Boards Association (MSBA) to assist the Board in its superintendent search and to pay MSBA according to the amount specified in the superintendent search contract.
During the regular LMSD board of Trustees meeting on February 13, Mike Waldrop, MSBA Executive Director explained to the trustees that hiring a new superintendent was probably the “most important decision that they would make as a board.”
Dr. Waldrop reviewed the options and help that MSBA could provide in a search.
The MSBA is currently helping the district seek applicants and has the job search listed for the district as a “District seeks a forward-thinking, enthusiastic, and proven leader to guide the district to new levels of high student achievement.”
All applications must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 4, 2018. The successful candidate will assume leadership of the Louisville Municipal School District on or before July 1, 2018.
MSBA is presently conducting four Superintendent searches in the state.
Dr. Waldrop noted that the search include meetings with different stakeholders associated with the district, including community members, teachers and administrators.
The search process will likely involve the board choosing a superintendent from a list of finalists recommended by the search consultants.
Bobby Pierce, Mark Dillard, and Sheila Hickman voted to hire MSBA with Brenda Johnson voting against.
