Webster County School Board members accepted an agricultural lease bid at a meeting last month.
They did so during a special meeting Dec. 10 to consider that agenda item only. Three bids were received for the agricultural lease of 462 acres of 16th Section land, according to the minutes.
The board accepted the bid from Reeves Farms of Houston as it was the highest bid at $200 an acre for a total of $92,400. The other bidders were N&W Farms of Vardaman ($170 an acre) and Jeffrey Tabb of Eupora ($131 an acre).
The bids were to have been opened during the regular monthly meeting the night before, but Superintendent Brian Jones recommended the board postpone opening them until the special meeting upon the advice of legal counsel, the minutes state.
His recommendation came after the board voted to go into executive session to discuss possible litigation. No action was taken in executive session.
