This year’s Run United 5K/10K/Walk will be at 8 a.m. Oct. 12 on the campus of Mississippi State University.
Hosted by United Way of North Central Mississippi, the run will be raising money for the 14 agencies supported in the four-county area of Winston, Webster, Choctaw and Oktibbeha.
Check-in time will be 7 a.m. with runners at the starting line at 7:50 a.m. Ryan Phillips, editor of the Starkville Daily News, will be the race starter this year.
The All Hallo-Way 1 Mile Costume Walk will take place on the 1-mile track behind the Sanderson Center. Three “treat” stations are set up where walkers must answer a silly riddle to win a treat and proceed to the next station.
The costume contest will award a Best Costume and second- and third-place winners. Judges this year will be Starkville Mayor Lynn Spruill and Joe Roberson, publisher of the Starkville Daily News. Dylan Karges, local artist, is designing the top awards this year.
The 5K and 10K will be timed by Stearns Race Time. To register for the race and support a good cause, go to http://my.raceresult.com/134205. Age groups are under 9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and over.
Race fees are 10K — $35, 5K — $25, and 1-mile walk — $10.
