The Eupora Rotary Club recognized Eupora High School senior Delta Claire Newman as Rotary Student of the Month at its Feb. 6 luncheon. Principal Laci Knight, Rotary Teacher of the Month, introduced her.
Newman’s clubs and activities include the Interact, Beta and Biology clubs; Fellowship of Christian Athletes; and slowpitch and fastpitch softball.
Her honors and awards as a senior include Merit Student, Homecoming Court, Annual Staff editor, All-District slowpitch softball, selected to Fastpitch All-Star Game, played in Scout All-American Game (Houston, Texas), Under Armour All-American Top 20, Wendy’s High School Heisman state finalist and Lindy Callahan Scholarship nominee.
Newman’s volunteer work includes Operation Christmas Child, American Cancer Society Color Run, Salvation Army bell ringer, Relay for Life and puppets for pediatric patients.
The daughter of Mark and Charlotte Newman, she plans to attend East Mississippi Community to study nursing and play softball on an athletic scholarship.
