A capacity crowd gathered in the Colonial Room at Lake Tiak O’Khata, on Monday evening, March 18, at the Winston County Republican Women’s meeting, to hear from six local political candidates who are running for office in the Republican Party.
Republican Executive Committee Chairman Mark Forsman pointed out that four years ago only one local candidate ran on the Republican ticket, and this year there are six. He stated that the Executive Committee is ecstatic to see these new candidates step forward into the political arena, and thanked them ‘doing the hard work.’
He also noted the formation of the Winston County Republican Political Action Committee to help raise funds to back these candidates.
At the end of the meeting, Forsman announced a ‘Meet the Candidates’ evening to be held at the Louisville Committee Saferoom on Monday, May 6, hosting Republican candidates from across the state.
The six candidates had an opportunity to briefly introduce themselves and speak about their campaigns. The candidates are:
• Blake Edwards, candidate for Coroner
• Byron Foster, candidate for Coroner
• Justin Keller, candidate for Chancery Clerk
• Will McNeel, candidate for Justice Court Judge, East Post
• Rhonda Prisock, candidate for County Supervisor, District 3
• Taylor Tucker, candidate for Winston County Prosecuting Attorney
The candidates spoke about their reasons for running for office, their qualifications and what they can bring to the positions they are seeking. They did not take questions, but had an opportunity to speak informally to group after the meeting.
