The Executive Committee of the Winston County Republican Party has announced a "Republican Candidates Forum" to be held on Monday, May 6, at the Louisville Community Safe Room at 6 p.m. Executive Committee Chairman Mark Forsman said a large slate of Republican candidates seeking office, including all statewide and district candidates have been extended and invitation.
Chairman Forsman said, "In addition to candidates in contested Primary races, those who are unopposed in the Primary but facing opposition in the November General election will be participating. Forsman said that Republican candidates for Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, State Treasurer, Northern District Transportation Committee and House District 35 have accepted invitations to speak. Unopposed candidates and local candidates will also be on hand to meet and greet their constituents.
The event begins at 6 p.m. with a delicious meal of heavy hors d'oeuvres available during an informal "meet and greet" with the candidates.
"Since we believe most, if not all, the statewide offices will be held by Republicans over the next four years, and since most of those office holders will be in attendance at our forum, we will also use this opportunity to give them a brief synopsis of why Winston County is flourishing and should remain on their radar during their future service to our great state," Forsman added.
In addition to the Candidate's Forum, Governor Bryant and First Lady Deborah Bryant have been invited to open the forum. "The Governor and First Lady have a special connection to Winston County as a result of the 2014 tornado," Forsman said. "Recognizing this is their last year in office, we hope they can come and share this event in the new community shelter."
