The Holmes Community College 2019 Distinguished Service Award recipients are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Allen Putnam II (Chuck and Janice).
Natives and current residents of Eupora, Chuck and Janice graduated from Eupora High School (1983 and 1985) then both attended Holmes Community College on different campuses.
Chuck played football in Goodman during his time at Holmes. He played under Johnny Fulce, Ray Bridges and Hugh Shurden as offensive lineman and kicker. The Christian Athlete Award was awarded to Chuck in 1984. Janice attended the Grenada Campus before going to work at Sunburst Bank Operations Center in Grenada.
“Everything was good at Holmes; it gave me a good foundation before attending Mississippi State University,” Chuck said.
Upon graduation in 1985 Chuck continued on to MSU, where he earned a degree in business administration in 1989.
After Mississippi State University Chuck entered the management trainee program for Champs Sports in Nashville, Tenn. Janice joined in the electrical industry in 1992 when they moved to Nashville. In 1997, Chuck and Janice moved to Memphis, Tenn., where Chuck took a management position in the electrical industry.
They are now working together for Consolidated Electrical Distributors out of Starkville. Consolidated Electrical Distributors is one of the nations’ largest electrical supply distribution networks both in residential and commercial construction.
Chuck and Janice enjoy traveling, hunting, fishing, gifting baskets to the elderly and helping others. As avid supporters of the college, they established the Janice and Chuck Putnam Endowed Scholarship with Holmes Community College.
