David Putman, one of the Christian leaders for Christ’s Cross at the Crossroads in Winona, has issued a statement regarding the Cross of Christ project in Eupora.
“The cross is a very visual affirmation of the love of Christ for each of us. His love is a selfless desire that we might eternal joy with him in heaven and not a torturous eternity in hell,” he said.
“For those that do not know Christ as their personal savior, I pray the Cross of Christ will lead them to his saving grace. For Christians, the cross is an everlasting symbol of gratitude, hope, courage and grace,” Putman stated. “Lest we forget, the Cross of Christ will be a daily witness of the teachings and love of Christ; encouraging all of us to seek a closer walk with Jesus and his command that we love all peoples. “
He added, “Christ’s path to the cross was anything but beautiful. He was beaten, ridiculed, betrayed, abandoned, bloodied with every measure of his body crying out in pain. He died on the cross from the weight of his own body. A gentle loving soul led to slaughter by the very people he loved so dearly.
“The beauty we see now as we gaze at the cross is that he did all of this for you and me that we might have life and have it more abundantly. We serve a risen savior that is more than able to keep every promise contained in his Word.”
Putman also said, “The Cross of Christ is an opportunity for every Christian in your community to join together in erecting this symbol of Christ’s love for all to see. As God has so blessed you, I encourage you to give of your time, talents, wealth and prayers to make this cross a reality soon.“
