The Alcorn State University School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences will host its 4th annual Alumni Hall of Fame Banquet on Saturday, August 17 at 7 p.m. The annual semi-formal affair and flagship event for the University will be held at the Jackson Marriot, 200 E. Amite St., in Jackson, Mississippi.
The Alumni Hall of Fame is designed to honor distinguished Alcorn State University (ASU) alumni and community leaders whose character and accomplishments exemplify outstanding achievement in the field of agriculture, family and consumer sciences, industrial technology or related community affiliation. This prestigious award honors individuals who are visionary and inspirational leaders who have made significant contributions in their field of specialization (or in service to the community.)
The 2019 Alumni Hall of Fame Class will honor eleven outstanding alumni: Eugene Brown, Jr., ’73, Mound Bayou, MS; Annie Greer-Bennett, ’65, Carthage, MS; Dr. Jesse Harness, Sr., ’67, Fayette, MS; Jewell Lockhart, Sr., ’56, Greenville, MS (posthumously); Dr. Ivory Lyles, ’80, Forest, MS; Pearlean McReynolds, ’69, Louisville, MS; Dr. Llewellyn Peyton, ’70, Bay Springs, MS; Eunice Powell, ’19, Hattiesburg, MS (posthumously); James Sardin, ’73, Terry, MS; Dr. Kenneth Simmons, Sr., ’56, Lorman, MS (posthumously); and Dorris Collins-Smith, ‘69, Mt. Olive, MS.
