WALTHALL: Mr. Henry Tabb has been dangerously sick from appendicitis. He is much better now. - Circuit Clerk Bailey has a few “pairs” of marriage licenses left which he is very anxious to sell at the low price of $3 per pair. - Attorney H. A. Gould is reported on the sick list. - Miss Myrtle Cooper is visiting relatives in Bellefontaine this week. - Mrs. Jack Langston visited at H. H. Holland’s Saturday and Sunday.
Dr. Harvey Flowers and Miss Kittie Fuller, popular young people of Kilmichael, were married last Wednesday night, May 21. - Ground has been broken for the erection of a $10,000 annex to the Grenada Female College. The building will be completed by the date for the opening of next session.

From Kosciusko: The little town of Ethel, a station on the Illinois Central railroad about nine miles east of this city, was almost totally destroyed by fire last night about 11 o’clock. The fire began in the store of J. O. Lane, and before it could be extinguished it had consumed J. O. Lane’s store, J. R. Riley’s store, a blacksmith shop, and several vacant buildings. There was no insurance on any of the buildings.
PERSONAL MENTION: Mrs. John Carroll, of near Tomnolen, died Tuesday morning after an illness of several weeks. Her remains were interred at Mt. Zion on Wednesday. - Mrs. W. J. Avent, who has been sick several days at the home of her son, J. T. Avent, has recovered and returned to her home this week. - Misses Mary Harpole and Alma Brown returned Monday night from Columbus, where they have been attending the I. I. & C. - Mrs. Lois Wadlington of Memphis, accompanied by her little son Walter, was the guest of her aunt, Mrs. J. E. Darden this week. - Prof. C. J. Bennett, who has been teaching school at Arcola for the past several months, returned Saturday to his home near Walthall. - Rev. A. C. Ball and wife of Hohenlinden are rejoicing over the arrival of a 10-pound girl which arrived last Sunday. - Mr. Purvey Wiggins returned home the first of the week from Starkville, where he has been attending the A. & M. College. - Mrs. Max Davitts, formerly of this place, died Wednesday at her home in Winona. Dr. P. R. Brown was called to Winona Wednesday by the illness of Mrs. Davitts. - Mrs. M. B. Williams of Buena Vista is spending a few days with the family of her son, U. S. Williams.
