J. E. “Bud” McKee of Sapa, Treasurer of Webster County, died at his home Saturday night. He leaves a widow and several children.

The management of the local picture show announces that on account of the extreme hot weather, the show will be discontinued until next fall.
Miss Hattie Bardwell became the bride of Dr. Herbert L. Arnold of the U. S. Naval reserve corps Saturday afternoon at the home of the bride’s mother, Mrs. H. L. Bardwell, Rev. H. M. Jinkins officiating.
Another fifteen of our young men will leave June 24th for Camp Pike, Ark.
Mr. E. M. Wall of Embry has the honor of sending in the first cotton bloom of the season, which was found June 14th, which was much earlier than last year when the first was found about the 29th. Mr. W. W. Naron of Woodland Route 3 also sent us a bloom which opened on the 15th, and Mr. D. M. Mansker one which opened on the 16th.
WALTHALL: Congratulations to Sheriff W. L. Mitchell and wife on the arrival of a fine boy. – Miss Lucile Scott entertained the young people here with an ice cream supper Monday night.
SHADY GROVE: The young people went to Mr. John Peeples Sunday to sing. - Calom Hodge is on the sick list this week. - Mr. and Mrs. Staples and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis were guests of Mrs. H. H. Hodges Saturday night and Sunday.
EUPORA: Miss Rosa Arnold went to Meridian last week to attend the wedding of her brother Herbert to Miss Hattie Bardwell. - Messrs. A. S. McKee, Fred Eudy, and George Wise left Sunday to accept position as Flagmen on the Y. & M. V. - Mr. R. L. Watts returned Tuesday from New Orleans where he tried to get in the navy. This is the 4th time he has tried to enlist.
TOMNOLEN: Born to Mr. and Mrs. Sam McCain one fine baby girl. - Miss Willie Clarence Wood has been quite sick for the past week, but she is able to be up now. - Pvt. Claud Woods of Camp Beauregard is at home on a 10-day furlough and is expecting to cross the pond soon. - Mr. C. E. Carroll has purchased a new Ford car and has been spreading joy in general in and around Tomnolen.
HOHENLINDEN: A crowd of young people attended the all-day singing at College Hill Sunday and all report a nice time. - Misses Lottie Easterwood and Lizzie Wofford and Emit and Jeffie Wofford were guests in the Moody home Sunday afternoon.

TOMNOLEN: Sgt. Robert E. Nason of the Park Field Aviation School is visiting his brothers, Messrs. Allen and Jim Nason this week. - Born on Sunday morn to Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Boone one big fine baby girl.
SHADY GROVE: Quite a crowd of young people enjoyed a party at Mr. Dave Collum’s Saturday night. - Mr. J. Cooper left Sunday for the wheat field where he will work through the summer season.
