100 Years Ago – November 21, 1919
LOUISVILLE: C. R. Presnell is at home after a delightful stay with his family in St. Louis. - Bob Mitchell spent last week with homefolks, returning Monday to Eupora where he is working. - Mrs. J. B. Parkes was called to Memphis last week to the bedside of her son-in-law Mr. N. E. Fuller, who is very ill with pneumonia. - Mrs. E. D. Burke returned to her home in Atlanta, Ga. last week after spending a week in the home of her brother, Mr. J. J. Belk. - Mrs. Ed Glover and little daughter Essie Reed returned home last week from Louisiana where she spent several weeks with her mother, who was very ill.
DEATHS: It is with profound regret that we are called upon to chronicle the death of Mr. W. T. Gregory, who died at his home three miles south of town, Wednesday, Nov. 19, after a brief illness. Mr. Gregory was one of our oldest citizens, a good man and neighbor, and his death is regretted by all. He was a consistent member of the Baptist church. He leaves a devoted wife and an adopted son, to whom we offer condolence. - The many friends of Mr. John Rundle, Principal of the High School, sympathize with him in the death of his aged mother, who died last Wednesday at her home in Pennsylvania. Mr. Rundle received the message too late to reach her home for the funeral. - Mrs. Boydstun, one of Plattsburg’s oldest and most respected women, died last Monday, the `17th. She was a good Christian woman and leaves a number of devoted children, one of whom is attorney Whittle Boydston, of our city.
MULES STRAYED from my place at Noxapater on last Saturday night two black horse mules, weight about 100 pounds and shod all round. Any information about them will be thankfully received and paid for. HENRY KIRKPATRICK, Noxapater.
MARRIAGES: On November 9, at J. D. Hill’s home Mr. J. N. Hisaw and Miss Mary Sue Puller, in the presence of friends and relatives, J. D. Hill officiating.
NOXAPATER: Mrs. Emma Davis of Louisville was guest of relatives here this week. - Mr. and Mrs. George Luke of Ackerman were visitors here this week. - The many friends of Mrs. C. C. Gunn sympathize with her in the sudden death of her sister, Mrs. William Gunn, which occurred at her home in Starkville Tuesday. - We extend a hearty welcome to Mr. J. T. Hickman and family who moved into town the past week. - Mr. Josh Brooks and daughter of McCool vicinity were guests of the former’s niece, Mrs. Henry Lawrence the past week. - Mrs. Retha Clark of Kosciusko is here on a visit to her sister, Mrs. H. L. Lawrence. - On Sunday Nov. 16, Mr. Lucian Reed and Miss Cagey Oglesby were married at the Methodist parsonage, Rev. G. W. Gordon officiating.

FRONT PAGE: Mrs. Charles Hight, Jr. received the sad message that her brother S/Sgt. Raymond Jay, who was fighting with the Canadian First Army, was killed in action Nov. 4th in Holland.
LOUISVILLE: Mr. and Mrs. Homer McCully will have as their guests over the Thanksgiving week their daughters, Misses Nannie Lou and Christine of Jackson. - Miss Thelma Yarbrough arrived Wednesday from Rolling Fork for Thanksgiving with Mrs. John D. Yarbrough. - Mr. and Mrs. John Campbell and children of Memphis visited their parents last week.
WEDDINGS: On Nov. 4th Miss Willie Lee Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William B. Johnson of Louisville was married to Evert Pope McKibben, son of Mr. and Mrs. Evert C. McKibben of St. Louis. The ceremony was performed at North Methodist Church, Indianapolis, Indiana with Rev. Dallas L. Browning officiating.
