100 Years Ago – March 28, 1919
LOUISVILLE: John McLean received a letter from Austin Johnson, who is now in Germany, and says he is getting along fine. - Mrs. Comfort who has been with her daughter, Mrs. Sid Jordan for several weeks, has returned to her home in Durant. - Mrs. H. P. Chastang and children left this week for Pineville, La., where they will join Mr. Chastang and reside in the future. - Mrs. J. W. Hollingsworth was called to Walthall a few days ago by the serious illness of her mother, who is now improved. - Mrs. Melvin Clark of Oakland is the pleasant guest of her mother-in-law, Mrs. J. N. Clark.
DEATHS: In Memory of Clint McArthur, who was born Sept. 29, 1882, died March 28, 1919. He leaves a wife and three children to mourn his death. He was the precious jewel of our home and loved by all who knew him. He suffered five long weeks untold suffering when God called him to a better home. He was carried to the hospital in Jonestown, Ark., and stayed three weeks, but knew death was near.
MARRIAGES: Married at Shiloh church Sunday afternoon, March 16, 1919, Mr. Leech Ray and Miss Georgia Hinze, D. A. Lucius officiating. Mr. Ray has recently been honorably discharged from U. S. Service, and is a highly respected young man of the Rural Hill community. Miss Georgia is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Hinze and one of that community’s popular young ladies.
NOXAPATER: Mrs. Richard Hopkins and baby from near Plattsburg, were guests of Mrs. S. J. Hopkins Sunday. - The Methodist ladies will have a market on Saturday, April 5th, where they will have all kinds of eatables, especially something nice for your Sunday dinner.

FRONT PAGE: Four Army Fliers Killed in Plane Crash – Plane falls from the sky in Hinze community Sunday night during a heavy rainfall. Locals thought the noise was part of the storm at the time. The plane was from the Monroe field. - Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Estes celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary.
DEATHS: Funeral services were held at Murphy Creek Baptist Church for Miss Loraine Smith, 25, on March 17th. Miss Smith had been an invalid for about five years and died after a few days of illness. She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Barnett Smith, two sisters, grandparents, Mr. J. W. Williams of Louisville and Mrs. Z. T. Entrekin of Ackerman.
LOUISVILLE: Miss Martha Baird of Columbus spent last week end with her parents, Rev. and Mrs. J. J. Baird. - Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Cullens returned to their home in Knoxville, Tenn. after spending a week with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Polle. Little Larry, who had spent some time with his grandparents, returned home with his parents. - Mrs. Horace Suber was admitted to the local hospital this week. - A. C. Hemphill is here on a visit to his daughters, Mrs. Rodney Triplett and Mrs. George Ivy. - Mr. and Mrs. George Ivy left Wednesday for St. Louis where she will enter the hospital for a major operation. - Friends of Mrs. H. M. Ellis are glad to know she can get out again after a month’s illness.
BIRTHS: Mr. and Mrs. John J. Campbell of Memphis, Tenn. announce the birth of a son, John J. Campbell, III on March 25th. - Mr. and Mrs. William Rhodes are the proud parents of a baby daughter, Mary Ann, who arrived March 24th.
WEDDINGS: In the West Chapel of the Alliance Army Air Base, Nebraska the marriage of Miss Lee Hunter of Rock Island, Ill. and Pfc. Howard M. Wylie of the Base was solemnized. The bride is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Hunter of Rock Island. The groom is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Allison Wylie of Louisville. - Miss Margaret Cornforth of Iowa Park, Texas, and Sgt. Thomas A. Covington of Louisville were married at the First Presbyterian Church in Iowa Park last Friday. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Cornforth of Iowa Park and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Covington of Louisville, Miss.
