An unusually large crowd assembled at the McCurtain’s Creek Baptist Church, twelve miles southwest of here, last Sunday to witness the unveiling of the handsome new monument recently erected over the grave of Jno. F. Weeks, who died at Tomnolen some months ago. The purchase and erection of the beautiful piece of marble was the work of Red Gum Camp No. 339 W. O. W. of which Mr. Weeks was in lifetime a prominent and faithful member. It was estimated that not less than a thousand people were present at the unveiling.
TOWN AND COUNTY: Mr. E. D. Edwards of Arkansas is home on a visit to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Edwards at Calooga. - Mrs. Bertie Waugh of Goodman has been in town several days past on a visit to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Wiggins. - Mr. Derwert Hays is very much improved in health, good news to all his many friends here. Mr. Hays has been critically ill for the past several days and his condition has caused his family and friends deep concern. - Miss Dixie Williams, who has been visiting her brother, Mr. U. S. Williams here for a month past, left Sunday for Hot Springs.
WALTHALL: Mrs. C. A. Robinson left Tuesday for Ripley, where she will spend several months with relatives. - Mr. Miller Holland and wife are the guests of relatives in town this week. - Mrs. Henry Tabb and children visited relatives in Eupora Monday and Tuesday. - Miss Jennie Cortney is visiting at J. T. Taylor’s this week. - Marriage license have been issued to W. A. Hodge and Emma Parson.
CUMBERLAND: Mr. and Mrs. M. O. Walker have suffered the loss of their infant child, who died last Saturday. The remains were buried Sunday at Cumberland cemetery. - We regret to note the continued illness of Mrs. A. L. Dalton. - Aunt Bettie Martin has been quite sick for several days past but is some better at this writing.
PERSONAL MENTION: Mr. J. I. Byars has been quite sick for the past few days. - Mr. W. A. Eudy has been in Cleveland the past few days on business. - Miss William Bailey of Slate Springs is in Eupora on a visit to her aunt, Mrs. Z. T. Patterson. - Miss Gertrude Denton of Jackson, Tenn. arrived here Wednesday on a visit to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Denton. - Mrs. J. G. Felton returned yesterday from Winona, where she has been two weeks past, on a visit to her daughter, Mrs. Townsend Moss. - Dr. W. Ralph Sugg of McCain has located here for the purpose of practicing his profession, that of dentistry.
