Last Monday evening, Tommie, the little four-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Fondren of our town, fell asleep in Jesus. “God works in a mysterious way, his wonders to perform.” While it is sad for us to give up our loved ones, yet God knows best. He had a place for little Tommie and has taken her home to rest. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Worsham in the Presbyterian church Tuesday 10 a.m. Tuesday morning. The remains were carried to the New Hope cemetery six miles north of here, where they were laid to rest there to remain.
Mrs. Lonia Norris died at her home near Clarkson last Saturday morning of pneumonia after several weeks illness, during which time she suffered greatly. Her remains were intered Saturday evening at the Clarkson cemetery. The deceased was a member of the Baptist church and had lived a true Christian life for a number of years. She was ever ready to give a helping hand to the needy and always had a kind word for those in distress. She leaves husband and a family of six children, all of whom are at home. She will be greatly missed by these, for her kind words and helping hands will work no more and there will be a vacant chair. We mourn with her loved ones and tender them our heartfelt sympathy.
