The Ackerman High School will open up next Monday, September 15th at 9 o’clock. All patrons and citizens of the town and community are cordially invited to be present at the opening thereby giving inspiration and encouragement to the Superintendent and faculty. Respectfully, H. W. Cooper, Supt.
The weather for the past several days has been the warmest ever. - Born, to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Baine, on last Saturday, a fine boy. - Miss Helen Harris of Noxapater was the guest of Miss Clara Blanton during the past week. - Mrs. G. S. Burks spent several days of this week with relatives and friends at Huntsville. - Mr. and Mrs. I. E. Hester left last Sunday for Clarksdale to make their future home. - Clyde McGee, who has been in France for many months, returned home last Friday. - Mrs. W. S. Moore and children spent several days this week in New Albany with relatives and friends. The opening of the Oktibbeha county agricultural high school at Longview will be Tuesday, Sept. 9. Prof. S. P. Jackson, a prominent educator, will be in charge, with his wife as matron. Ackerman is shortly to have a first-class Bakery. Mr. Reed, Manager of the Power House, is now making arrangements to have this enterprise in operation at an early date.
Greenwood retains her position as the leading cotton market in Mississippi for the season, which closes Sept. 1, with receipts aggregating 160,064 bales.
FROM THE COUNTY AGENT: I am listing a car of sheep and goats to be loaded at Ackerman and Weir within the next month. If you have anything that you want to get in this car, list them with me. - If you are feeding altogether corn to hogs, you will find it profitable to get some Tankage and try it out. I have a small quantity on hand that I sell for actual cost. - The season for making feed crops is over now, except it is still plenty of time to sow a winter grazing crop that will save a lot of high-priced feed. I have been able to get Ambruzzi Rye delivered here for $3.35 a bushel and a lot of folks are planting it. - I am now listing cattle and hogs for shipment about October 1st, from both Ackerman and Weir. I will also ship either from Tomnolen, Stewart, Mathiston, Sherwood, or Reform, provided there are several farmers from Choctaw county interested and will work up the shipment.
- I have become interested in a syrup bucket with a small opening at the top into which you put a small self-sealing top. I am sure that this is going to prove a much better bucket for shipping purposes. It is probable that we will order some buckets of this type. I have written for prices and a sample.
