LOUISVILLE: We are informed that Clem Chambliss will leave for France in a few days with a company of 1300. - Mr. A. J. White, who has been very ill from kidney and liver trouble, is now convalescent and hopes to be able to get out again. - Gilbert J. Wood came over from Memphis and spent a few days with his mother, Mrs. Elnora Wood first of the week.
MARRIAGES: On May 4th, Mr. Jas. M. Lester and Miss Ethel Wood were married at the residence of Mr. Nig Triplett of Plattsburg, Rev. E. J. Wood saying the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of the late Rev. R. W. Wood. The groom has a lucrative position with the Subsistence of the Quarter Master Division Corps of Atlanta.
NOXAPATER: Lieut. R. M. Webb of the Aviation Corps of San Antonio, Texas was at home on a furlough for a few days this week. - Little Miss Julia Pollard of Weir was guest of her sister, Mrs. Rodger Kilpatrick a few days the past week. - Mrs. Fred Stapp and little daughter of Wiggins are guests of the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Reed at the Reed Hotel.

Our communities had the finest rain last Friday night. It refreshed everything and the late cotton came up.
DEATHS: Funeral services for retired Winston farmer, James Henry Mills, 78, were held from Center Ridge Methodist Church Tuesday, with Rev. J. W. Holliday and Rev. J. W. Gibson officiating, with interment in the church cemetery. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Mills, Winston pioneers. Mr. Mills was suffering from a stroke of paralysis when he died at his home in Center Ridge Sunday. Beside his widow, Mrs. Ella Whitmire Mills, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Ira Carr, and seven sons. - Funeral services were held for Mrs. Lucy Allgood, 73, at the Woods cemetery on May 10th. Mrs. Allgood was well-known in her community in the western part of the county.
LOUISVILLE: Born, to Mr. and Mrs. Davis Marshall, a fine baby boy, born May 7. - Staff Sgt. J. S. Barnes of San Diego, Calif. arrived here Tuesday to visit his wife and little baby. - Mrs. James Gipson heard from her husband that he arrived safely in England. - Joe Henry Wright, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Wright, enlisted in the Naval Reserve and has left for San Diego, Calif. for training. - Mrs. Dollie King of Philadelphia is here visiting her sisters, Mrs. Jeffie Majure and Mrs. C. C. McNeel. - Mr. and Mrs. Homer E. Hunt left last week for Hot Springs, Ark., where they will spend a few weeks, improving their health.
WEDDINGS: Miss Thressa Bonnelli and PFC Barnard Fulton were married in Detroit, Mich., Sept. 19, 1942, at the home of the pastor, Rev. J. O. Love of the Baptist church. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Fulton of Louisville, Route 3. - On May 1st at St. Augustine, Fla., Aux. Mary Aulana Crowson of Louisville and Daytona Beach, Fla., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Crowson, became the bride of Sgt. Samuel Latham Grist of Washington, N. C. and Camp Blanding, Fla., son of Mr. and Mrs. S. L. Grist, Sr. of Washington, N. C. - Mr. and Mrs. Charlie C. Davis of Louisville are announcing the marriage of their daughter, Miss Kate Ann Davis of Louisville and Jackson, to Henry Blake Harris, the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Harris of Vicksburg, April 17, in the home of Rev. Frank Cheavans, Baptist pastor.
NOXAPATER: Mrs. Cecil Boswell and Mrs. W. S. Permenter left Monday evening for Washington, D. C., where Mrs. Boswell will visit her husband in the U. S. Service and stationed at Camp Mead, Md., and Mrs. Permenter will visit her daughter in Washington, D. C. - The Noxapater Red Cross Room opened May 11th. - Miss Billie Lynn Kirkpatrick returned home Tuesday night from Mobile, Ala., where she visited her sister, Mrs. Bunch and family.
