LOUISVILLE: Farmer Stubbs is in the hospital in Camp Stoneman, California, due to a knee wound. He received the injury while at another camp and was sent to California for an operation, which occurred last week and his leg is now in a cast. - Bennett Harris of Gadsden, Ala. was called here this week by the illness of his father, Mr. H. A. Harris, who is in the hospital. - Mr. and Mrs. Albert Polle have returned home from Chicago, where they attended the funeral of his brother, Mr. Vern Polle. - PFC Forrest Moody of Westerly, R. I. is home on furlough visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Moody. - Sylvester Foster of Camp Croft, Spartanburg, S. C. is home on furlough visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. U. A. Foster. - Mrs. Quintus Young visited her daughter, Mrs. Rush L. Hembree and husband in Philadelphia the past weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Rush L. Hembree are the proud parents of a son, Rush L. Hembree, Jr., who was born January 29.
MACEDONIA: J. D. Cole is in the hospital with the flu. - After a week’s bad weather we are having real spring weather this week. Farmers are beginning to farm some already, gardening and pruning fruit trees, working with renewed energy to help win this tragic war.
WEDDINGS: Shiloh news reported the December 25th wedding of Mr. Fearon Pearson and Miss Clinton Goodin.
NOXAPATER: Mrs. Ruby McCool and son Howard visited parents and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Goodin in the Gholson community the past week end. - Mr. W. H. Crosby of Pascagoula and son Robert of the U. S. Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Fla. visited home folks this week. - Corp. Halbert Baskins of Camp Shelby is at home on furlough. - Odelle Snow of Camp Shelby visited home folks here last week. He was accompanied by his wife to Hattiesburg, where she will make her home. - Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Glenn moved this week to Mashulaville, where Mr. Glenn has accepted a position as bookkeeper for the C. M. Russell and Company firm. - Pvt. Charles D. McLeod and wife of Camp Silbert, Gadsden, Ala. are here spending their furlough with their parents and other relatives.
We are now sure of winning this war since the old hen chickens have joined the fight. At least they are now laying Victory Eggs. Mrs. Edgar R. Sullivan brought an egg to our office this week with a defect on one end plainly outlining a “V,” as if it had been carved by an artist. See this egg in our store window.
ROCKY HILL: The ladies of this community met in the home of Mrs. Wayne Fulton last Friday and quilted three quilts for the Red Cross. - Phillip Hopkins of Camp Crowder, Mo. is at home on furlough. - We are glad to report that little Nettie Pugh is somewhat improved from her recent illness. - Mrs. Ronald Richardson is receiving treatment in a Meridian hospital.
