FOUR KILLED: In a difficulty over an account Tuesday at Okalona, Dr. J. H. Murfee and his son Howard, and Charles and Walter Clark were killed and all were dead in one minute after the difficulty began. It began about an account Chas. Clark owed Murfee. All were prominent men.

Barron of Aberdeen and Dr. Oscar Barron of Sturgis were in town yesterday. - Mr. Gaston Therrell visited his father’s home in Webster county the first of the week. - Messrs. W. R. Irving and A. Cramer attended the meeting of the Grand Lodge of Knights of Pythias in Meridian this week. - Mrs. Rebecca J. Fancher of French Camp left Tuesday evening by way of West Point for Louisville, Ky. to attend the Southern Baptist Convention, which is now in session in that city. She will also visit her (our) brother, Chas. W. Townsend, who lives in Lexington. - Profs. Marshall Spiva, J. D. Perkins and Alonzo Graves stood an examination at Ackerman last Friday and Saturday as required of candidates for County Supt. Of Education. These gentlemen are up-to-date on educational lines and we have no doubt all will pass the State Board of Examiners without any misgivings on their part as to the qualifications of the applicants.
Mrs. Sheedy, age 68 years, mother of our townsman John Sheedy, died at her home in Bywy Monday night. We do not know the cause of her death or the duration of her sickness. We extend sympathy to the bereft and sorrowing family. [Burial in McCurtain’s Creek and her monument states “Wife of W. M. Sheedy” who died in 1890. Her full name is Martha Jane Trussell Sheedy.]
The gin and grist mill belonging to Marshal Spiva and Eugene Reid located at the W. M. Griffith old stand was burned last Saturday. The origin of the fire is unknown to us. There was some insurance we understand but we are not apprised as to the amount.
DISSOLUTION NOTICE: The partnership heretofore existing between M. M. Inman, D. H. Quinn, and T. L. McGraw, under the firm name of Inman, Quinn, & McGraw is this day dissolved by mutual consent, D. H. Quinn assuming all liabilities of the old firm and all parties indebted to said firm will settle with D. H. Quinn. M. M. Inman, D. H. Quinn, T. L. McGraw. May 11, 1899.
The firm of A. M. Yates & Co. and the Post Office have removed to Chester street. We make this announcement because if the newspapers did not locate the present site of the Post Office a year from now some of Choctaw’s citizens would be going in at the old stand – “Any Mail?” And some will die and never know the office has been changed.
