STOP THIS: This is the warning being sounded against tuberculosis in Choctaw county by the Mississippi Tuberculosis Association, under the auspices of which the Christmas Seal Sale will be conducted December 1 -11. And this is the message addressed by the Association in every resident of the county. “There were 18 cases of tuberculosis reported in Choctaw county the past year. A small number reported is a danger signal. There are many unreported and unsuspected cases in the county. So long as this condition exists every man, woman, and child in this county is a potential victim of tuberculosis – living in the danger zone.”

A beautiful marriage of much surprise occurred at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Hanna in Ackerman Saturday, Nov. 22nd, when Miss Lavada Hammill became the bride of Mr. Napoleon Oswalt, Rev. Patrick S. Rogers officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Hammill of Oktibbeha county and has been Sales lady for R. M. Barron for the past year or more. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Oswalt, who live east of Ackerman, and a most elegant young man in every respect and has only recently returned from oversea service. The happy couple will reside in Memphis, where the groom has a splendid position. The Plaindealer joins their many friends in extending to them congratulations and best wishes for a long and prosperous life.

The Choctaw Teacher’s Association will meet at the Court House at Ackerman on Saturday, December 20, 1919 at 10:30 a.m. The program will include “Creating and Maintaining Interest in Study,” Mrs. W. G. Bennett, Miss Annie L. Buck; “Relationship of Teacher and Pupil,” T. A. Patterson, Miss Mamie Burks; “Industrial Workers in School,” Miss Kate Pinson, Miss Lural Bennett; “School Games for Rural Schools,” Miss Kate McAlister, J. Len McKnight; and “Report of Improvements,” by each teacher.

Davenport, the new Methodist Pastor, writes that he will arrive here Saturday and that he will fill his regular appointments at Weir Sunday at normal hours and he hopes to meet the congregations at both the morning and evening services. - The Methodist ladies of the Ackerman Methodist Church are now very busy at planning for their Christmas event which will be held Friday, December 5th.
“Parent-Teacher Association” will meet in regular session Thursday evening at 3:30. A program by the Primary Department will be rendered before the regular program and everyone interested is invited to be present.
