A woman has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor child endangerment charges following a motor vehicle accident last month in the county.
The rollover accident on East Old Highway 82 was reported about 7:10 p.m. Feb. 28, according to Webster 911 records. Responding were Deputy John Stone with the Webster County Sheriff’s Department, the Mathiston Fire Department and EMS.
Upon arrival, Stone found a female, male and three small children that were involved in the car accident, the Sheriff’s Department said in a news release. All were transported by EMS to North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora for minor injuries.
The Sheriff's Department said Stone noticed a smell of intoxicating beverage and slurred speech from the female driver at the scene. She was identified as Nikkitta Denise Hollingshed, 30, of Eupora.
Hollingshed was subsequently charged with driving under the influence-first offense, three counts of felony child endangerment and other violations. She was booked into the Webster County Jail on March 6 and released on bond that night.
Hollingshed appeared before Judge Rebecca Ellison in Webster County Justice Court on Friday and pleaded guilty to these charges: three counts of misdemeanor child endangerment (reduced from felonies), DUI-first offense, no child restraint, expired driver's license and no proof of insurance.
Ellison fined her a total of $2,646.50 and remanded a charge of possession of alcohol (beer) in a dry county to the files.
