The performing arts department of Grace Christian School will present the musical Oklahoma! on April 4 & 5, 2019. Both shows will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the GCS gymnasium under the direction of Becky Joy.
Oklahoma! is set in the early 1900s in the American West. The Rogers and Hammerstein production has been on stage for more than 75 years but is a classic tale of love and survival with familiar tunes.
Aunt Eller’s opening scene (played by Braeden Nabers) features Curly (Zach Boyles) in “Oh, What A Beautiful Morning” as he comes to court Laurey (Maggie Phillips). Jud (Tanner Joy) also has his eyes on Laurey who must choose one to marry. Ado Annie (Bella Brownlee), Will Parker (Micah Ballard), and The Peddler (Jacob Hogue) are involved in their own love triangle.
Other GCS students round out the cast: Macy Joy, Lydia Palmer, Mary Jane Taylor, Annabelle Crowder, Katie Chen, Millie Taylor, Jameson Agnew, Braden Joy, Caleb Caudill, Joe Caudill, Nick Culwell, Marleigh Turnipseed, Maci Snow, Mia Brownlee and Melissa Ramirez.
Tickets for Oklahoma! will be available at the door. Adults $5, Students $3. For more information, call the school office at 662-773-8524.
