Mississippi State University Horsemen’s Association is a student organization for those students who are interested in all aspects of horses.
The equine club is based in the Animal & Dairy Sciences department at Mississippi State University. Last spring the club sponsored an open horse show at the Louisville Coliseum called the Southern Bulldog Classic.
The show last year was a success raising money not only for the club, but also for Golden Triangle Horse Rescue and the MSU Equine Assisted Therapy Program. Similar to last year’s show, the show this year will offer halter, pleasure, gaited, and speed event classes. Youth focused activities will also be back this year including musical chairs and stick horse, bareback, panty race, and pick-up race classes.
Prizes will be awarded in many of the classes and even some jackpots will be added to the schedule.
The show will be Saturday March 30th around noon at the Louisville Coliseum. All breeds of horses are welcome as there are no registration requirements for horses to compete.
Further details concerning the MSU Horsemen’s Association and the upcoming open horse show can be found on the club’s Facebook page.
