Back in the days of old the citizens of Maben gathered into town for the Saturday evening drawing for $15 down at the Maben City Hall at 3 o’clock.
This Saturday, a number of business owners are hosting a daylong Spring Fling and part of the celebration that day will be a drawing for $100 to be held at the old City Hall, now Grantiques, at 3 p.m. This is all located on Webster Street.
Two-part tickets will be given for each purchase made at the hosting businesses; one part will be put into the tumbling barrel for the drawing and the purchaser will keep the other for the drawing. You must be present to win — just like the olden days.
Throughout the day refreshments will be served and door prizes will be drawn for at each participating business.
The participating businesses are Olde Town Bakery (Jennifer Williamson), Grantiques (Angela Waller), Reclaimed Vintage and Antiques (Julie Fulgham), Sky Blossoms Nursery (Skylar Willers) and Darling Made (Tracy Britt).
Sky Blossoms will have garden plants and bedding plants for sale. Tomato and pepper plants will be available, as will various perennial plants such as cosmos, lantana, dianthus, petunias and phlox. She will also have macramé hangers.
Darling Made makes farmhouse décor such as wall art, trays, picture frame boxes, signs, large letters, plus much more.
Grantiques will offer a variety of antique furniture, glassware and home décor. They also will have vendors set up in the space that sells candles, jelly, baby clothes, hot sauce, cakes and cupcakes, and handmade jewelry. This is also their grand opening.
Olde Town Bakery will have retail items (T-shirts) plus business as usual in food products.
The general public is invited to come participate in this soon-to-be annual event on April 6 from 10 a.m.6 p.m.
Remember the drawing at 3 o’clock for Money, Money, Money.
