Maben Lions Club met June 26 to install new officers for the year 2018-19. Second Vice District Governor for District 30-M Mike Dowd of Louisville performed the installation.
New officers are Rob Collins, president; Rose Graham, first vice president; Marlene Thomas, second vice president; Jane Collins, secretary; Ed James, treasurer; Dow Carder is immediate past president; Nellie Blade, recording secretary and Lion Tamer; Earl Blade, Tail Twister; Barry Cole, Ken Norwood, Shawn Nygard and Sheryl Perkins, directors; Pat Harpole, Rose Graham and Joann Ford, Membership Committee.
New officers training will be July 21 in Columbus.
The Maben Lions Club is making plans for the new year. One of the big projects is sponsoring Punt, Pass and Kick. Under the new organizational guidelines the PPK plans call for participation of boys and girls ages 6 through 15 to compete in various football skills. More information will be available when school starts.
Lions clubs help promote vision tests, appropriate eyeglasses, hearing aids, diabetes awareness, hunger projects, improved environmental issues, youth activities and children’s cancer treatments.
The motto of all Lions clubs is “We Serve.” We are here to serve the needs of the community, both local and international. Lions Club International is the largest service organization in the world.
