The Maben Public Library invites the public to come and look at the latest display of ceramic roosters.
This is a small collection of colorful roosters belonging to Marie Pinnix and Dottie Dewberry.
Mary Boutwell, the Maben librarian, has also added a number of children’s books about chickens. Also are several fall displays of flowers to pick up the color in the chickens. So parents bring your kids out to look at the roosters/chickens and the books.
The Maben Library is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m.. until 4:30 p.m.
The library offers DVDs in three carousels — one for kids and two for adults.
The library also offers four shelves of audiobooks and music CDs.
Up front at the librarian’s desk are the latest in New York Times bestsellers. If you have a request just tell Mrs. Mary. She can request from a consortium of library systems throughout the state — Mississippi Library Partnership.
Copies can be made for a quarter and faxes can be sent (up to five pages) or received for $3 plus a quarter per page.
The library also offers swap books in the upstairs carousel.
A new app called Hoopla is available with your library card and PIN (that you get from your librarian). You can set up an account that allows you free of charge to watch movies, listen or read books, and music up to six each month.
You can also use the library website to renew or put books on hold.
