On April 28th, 2019, five competitors from Winston County ran in the Magnolia Silo District Marathon. The race was held in Waco, TX where it's sponsored by Chip & Joanna Gaines, along with their company, MAGNOLIA. The Marathon is USATF certified as a Boston Marathon Qualifier. The proceeds go to help support the "Brave Like Gabe" Foundation for rare cancer research and cancer patients treated at Baylor Scott & White McClinton Cancer Center.
Winston County's 5 Competitors: Suzanne Quinn Gregory, Jennifer Fulcher, Emily Ellison, Candice Cefalu, & John Adam Long.
Of the three wheelchair competitors, John Adam Long was awarded covered admission for next year's race in 2020 with an invitation to stay at MAGNOLIA as their guest. He was chosen personally by Chip Gaines to be the recipient of this honor. In Chip's words... "Keep Inspiring Others!"
Candice Cefalu finished 3rd out of 24 participants in her group for the Marathon.
Emily Ellison finished 60th out of 259 participants in her group for the Half Marathon.
Jennifer Fulcher finished 59th out of 105 participants in her group for the Half Marathon.
Suzanne Quinn Gregory finished 88th out of 146 participants in her group for the Half Marathon.
