Most youth spend their weekends playing video games and watching TV, but Louisville brothers and Grace Christian School students, Julius and Robert Culwell, have spent their weekends representing their state at Pinto Horse Association of America (PtHA) horse shows including the most recent one, the Azalea Classic Horse Show, this spring held at the Lauderdale County Agri-Center in Meridian, MS.
The Azalea Classic Horse Show was a combined Palomino Horse Breeders of America (PHBA) and Pinto Horse Association of America (PtHA) show that was sponsored by the Heart of Dixie Palomino Exhibitors Association (HOPE) and the Mississippi Pinto Horse Association.
The Azalea Classic Horse Show was the first show of the 2019 show season for both organizations. Older brother Julius was high point in the youth and open solid pinto timed events, and thus, taking home the overall high point solid pinto youth and open awards for the show with his mare Hollywood NV ME.
In the palomino classes, Julius competed in the timed events and Robert competed in halter and pattern classes with their 23 year-old mare named How D My Valentine.
All of their hard work resulted in their mare being recognized as overall high point open horse for the show. During the show, the youth voted and nominated Robert Culwell to be the National Director for the state for PtHA. This will be his second year representing the state at the national level at PtHA meetings and events.
The Culwell brothers are looking forward to competing at the next MS pinto horse show, which will be in December at the Lauderdale Country Agri-Center. For further information about the upcoming MS PtHA show, individuals can refer to the HOPE Facebook page.
