INDIANAPOLIS – Taylor Machine Works of Louisville, Miss., earned a first place award in the National Precast Concrete Association’s annual Sustainability Awards competition. The award was given on Feb. 28 in Louisville during The Precast Show 2019 and recognizes the company’s many sustainable improvements which made its products and workplace stronger, safer and more efficient.
“Taylor is proud of all the manufacturing technology innovations that our team members are continually implementing,” said Robert Taylor, President and Chief Operating Officer. ”We are honored with the recognition of these achievements by NPCA.”
Taylor moved to energy- and time-saving fiber laser technology to cut parts rather than traditional plasma cutters. The company also designed and built an innovative dual gantry sub arc welder that eliminated slag and spatter, reduced clean-up time and greatly increased productivity. In addition, the company installed LED lighting that saved more than $4,600 dollars per year and reduced eye strain and fatigue.
“It’s great to see a company like Taylor Machine Works embrace new technologies and innovative thinking to improve its workplace,” said Ty Gable, president of National Precast Concrete Association. “Sustainability is a journey, not a destination, and it’s important for all precast concrete manufacturers and suppliers to continue this important work to ensure a better environment and future for the industry.”
Taylor Machine Works, Inc., located in Louisville, Mississippi, is one of the only privately held manufacturers of industrial lift trucks operating in America today. The company was founded by W.A. Taylor, Sr., in 1927, as a small family-owned automotive and repair business.
