A recent study by Feeding America shows 1 in 6 children, roughly 13 million, struggle with hunger nationwide to help alleviate the problem locally, the Louisville Municipal School District will again participate in the Summer Food Service Program in order to ensure that children will have access to healthy meals for the summer months.
Fair Elementary, Nanih Waiya, and Noxapater will be open for breakfast and lunch from June 4th to June 29th.
In addition, both Louisville High School and Eiland Middle School will continue to serve into July by providing breakfast and lunch from June 4th up until July 27th.
Breakfast will be served between the hours of 7:30 and 8:30 A.M. and lunch will be available from 10:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M.
No schools will serve breakfast or lunch on the following dates: July 4th, 5th, 6th, and 25th.
Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.
The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) ensures that children continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session. This summer, USDA plans to serve more than 200 million free meals to children 18 years and under at approved SFSP sites across the country.
