Every year the Lions Club chooses “Global Causes,” which is a handful of causes they prioritize to, by giving their time and resources.
One of their goals this year is diabetes; to reduce the prevalence of diabetes and improve quality of life for those diagnosed. Many of the Mississippi Lions Club chapters have been working with the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi (DFM). Mike Dowd, of the Louisville Lions Club, and Andy Kalinowski, of the Columbus Lions Club, paid a visit to the DFM office, donating a check from their chapters for our children’s programs.
This was more specifically for our school emergency boxes for students with diabetes. The DFM has donated over 275 school emergency boxes over the past year.
