Members of the Friends of Legion State Park and Town & Country Garden Club spruced up the areas around the Historic Legion State Park Lodge recently.
The groups joined together and used a “Fire Wise” grant to purchase the plant material, soil fertilizer and mulch for improving the landscape around the Lodge.
The groups thanked Tim Flake, park manager, and Robert Flake for their help in preparing the beds.
The groups also recognized Marie Shaw who has been very diligent in applying for this grant as well as organizing the project and in time will beautify the lodge grounds.
The Fire wise Grant program provides funding to assist communities in wildland/urban interface areas in reducing their wildfire risk.
