The Choctaw County Library System in Ackerman would like to invite all children ages 5-12 to participate in the “Libraries Rock!” Summer Reading Program. Interactive programs will be held every Friday at 10:30 AM at the Choctaw County Library in Ackerman, located at 511 S Louisville Street.
The Summer Reading Program will begin THIS FRIDAY, JUNE 15, 2018 from 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM. On JUNE 15, we will have “ROCKING REGISTRATION” complete with games, face painting, reading bag gifts, and a hot dog lunch.
Next FRIDAY, JUNE 22, 2018 at 10:30 AM will be ROCK AND ROLL DANCE DAY at Ackerman Library. Kids will learn dance moves and make a musical craft.
FRIDAY, JUNE 29, 2018 at 10:30 AM will be “LIBRARIES ROCK: MOVIE DAY”. We will pop popcorn and show the cartoon movie, SING, projected onto our own big screen. Kids are welcome to bring a blanket and get comfortable as they enjoy the movie.
FRIDAY, JULY 6, 2018 at 10:30 AM will be “LIBRARIES ROCK: ASK A GEOLOGIST!”. We will have a guest speaker and a hands on presentation about different rocks and rock formations. Afterward, we will have a rock painting craft.
FRIDAY, JULY 13, 2018 at 10:30 AM is the last day of our Summer Reading Program! We will celebrate with a ROCKING OUTDOOR WATER PARTY. Wear a swimsuit, bring a towel, and we will play water games and enjoy a pizza lunch.
The reading goal for this summer is 25 books per child, and we will have fun prizes to hand out along the way. Each child who reads 25 books will be awarded a prize bag filled with slime, a squishy, a frisbee, and other fun treats. Kids who read 25 books will also be entered into the Grand Prize Drawing for an inflatable waterslide!
They will also have weekly prizes for every 5 books read, so be sure and participate every week!
