A home invasion turned deadly in Choctaw County after a juvenile shot an intruder in the Bywy area of the county May 29.
According to multiple reports, deputies from the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call of a shooting at the location of 297 E. Smith Road May 29 at 3:21 p.m.
Upon their arrival, Choctaw County Chief Deputy Lee Upchurch reported that the intruder, Jerry Lee Robinson was found on the porch of the home with a gunshot wound and unresponsive. It was reported that Robinson attempted to enter the home with a hatchet and made a threatening move toward the juvenile, who was home alone at the time. The juvenile then shot Robinson.
Robinson was later pronounced dead. It was reported that Robinson was the uncle of the juvenile.
According to deputies, Robinson had made threats against the family two weeks prior to the shooting.
No charges have been filed against the juvenile at this time. The case will be presented before a grand jury in August 2018.
