The power of the Louisville Junior Auxiliary’s Angel Tree is in the joy on a child’s face after receiving a gift from a stranger whether that gift is a new pair of pants or a toy.
“It is the smiles on their faces,” said JA organizers.
Each year the club decorates a Christmas tree in the lobby of the Winston County Library.
The tree is decorated with paper angels. Each angel is marked with name, gender and age of a child in the area who is in need. Clothing sizes and a list of each child’s wishes for Christmas are also included.
Children from birth to 17 years of age are represented on the tree.
Those who wish to help sponsor an angel from the tree should go to the library, choose an angel off the tree and then return with a present from the list.
The tree will be up for several weeks and the JA palced the tree last week. Gifts need to be brought to the library or to a JA Member.
