Support for The Cross of Christ is growing. The 12-story all-metal cross will be erected at the northwest corner of highways 9 and 82 in Eupora.
When asked what the cross will mean to the community and to individuals these statements were made:
The Rev. Glenda B. Mays of Gibson Street Church of God in Eupora reflects, “The Cross of Christ reminds me of the great love of God and sacrifice demonstrated by Jesus as he went to the cross and shed his blood for our sins so that we would have eternal life in him.”
Becky Oliver, a member of Eupora First United Methodist Church, states, “When I am traveling and I see a roadside cross, it is a reminder of all God has done for me, including the greatest thing of all, giving his Son for all of us. I then say a prayer of thankfulness. I hope our area cross will be a constant reminder to everyone of all God did for us.”
Danny Hubbard of Tomnolen Baptist Church reveals, “I think it is one of the best things that could ever happen. Just the thought of someone seeing the cross and accepting Jesus as Savior would be the greatest. If one person looks at the cross and accepts Jesus as Savior, it is worth it — to know that person would have eternal life with Jesus. It will also be a daily reminder of his love for us. “
“The Cross of Christ meaning is summed up in four letters … HOPE! No matter what trials you face there is always HOPE in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” as stated by Mary Anne Byrne, a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church, Cadaretta.
Caine Adams of Maben First Baptist Church states, “The cross is a daily reminder to us of all of Jesus’ enduring love. Romans 5:8 tells us, ‘God commended his love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.’ No matter our trials each day, we can look to the cross and rejoice with assurance.”
