The Winston County Head Start Complex held their Transition Program for the Early Head Start at Winston County Head Start Center on June 27 at 9:30 a.m. The students that will be three years of age by September 1 will now be a part of the regular Head Start.
Early Head Start serves ages 8 weeks to 3 years of age. Once a child is accepted into EHS he/she remains there until they are three years of age. There were 22 students transitioning.
Learning starts at birth and children will learn more from birth to five years of age. It was evident today that these students are now ready to transition into Head Start.
The theme is “Early Head Start is taking you to … Infinity and Beyond.” Early Head Start is under the direction of Dean Miller, Assistant Center Administrator, Dr. Annie Lewis, EHS Director, Dr. Dorothy Foster, Chief Operating officer, and Dr. Bobby Brown, Executive Director.
Mrs. Irene Smith stated that some of the students were six months old when they were enrolled.
“Today, hard work and dedication has paid off. We serve 48 students in the EHS program and 12 very competent child care providers,” stated Smith.
The transition program consisted of a welcome, scripture, prayer, and song by the students. Each Unit presented some of what they learned during the program from counting and songs.
