According to the “finger-made writing” on the steps of the old city hall in Maben, it was built in 1948.
Of course, that could just be the step. Anyway, the beautiful old building is getting a new lease on life. For those of you new to Maben, the building is located at 7826 Webster St. across from the old bank.
Angela Berry Waller from Dancy, has renovated the building as well as done some landscaping around the steep front steps. On April 4, she will be opening her new shop to the public at 10 a.m. The grand opening of Grantiques Vintage and Gifts will be April 6.
The store will be filled with vintage glassware, furniture and some home décor items. A number of new as well as local vendors will also be featured: Country Boutique, hand-poured candles; Brittani Anne`s, handmade jewelry; Melissa Bryant Bell`s Kitten Britches, all kinds of bath products; Tammy Abbott`s, jams, jelly and all kinds of handmade baby apparel; Papa Lynn`s Hot Sauce, Jala-Haba Hot Sauce, Hell in a Bottle hot sauce, Robusta hot sauce; and Sugaree’s, cakes or cupcakes.
The day of the open house, the store will host a reception for all attending; so come fellowship, eat and be merry from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the day. Come in and sign in with your name and phone number; you do not have to be present to win. Winning names will be posted on Grantiques’ Facebook page.
If you want in on the fun, come to the grand opening of Grantiques on April 6 in Maben at the old city hall on Webster Street.
