A law enforcement investigation is underway into alleged misconduct by a now-former Eupora High School employee.
Superintendent Brian Jones of the Webster County Schools, in a statement he released Friday, said EHS administrators were made aware Thursday afternoon of alleged misconduct by the unnamed employee
“An immediate investigation was initiated into the allegation. Additionally, an investigation is being conducted by Webster County Sheriff’s Department and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation,” Jones stated.
“The employee in question is no longer employed by Webster County Schools,” Jones said. “Since this is an ongoing investigation and a personnel matter, further details cannot be released.
“Our top priority is the safety of our students.”
Jones told the Progress-Times on Monday that multiple law enforcement agencies had been contacted to let them be aware of the allegations.
Sheriff’s Statement
Also Monday, Sheriff David Gore addressed the Webster County Board of the Supervisors about the investigation.
“I want to assure you it’s being handled properly,” he said.
Gore said he asked MBI to take the investigation over because the agency has resources the sheriff’s office does not.
“I wanted to be sure everything was handled correctly,” he also said.
“The victim will get justice if this turns out to be true,” Gore told the board, adding that the investigation is moving slowly. No charges had been filed as of yet, he said.
