At French Camp Academy learning is a full-time experience. Lessons learned in the classroom setting are strengthened and enhanced by quality projects and programs. As a Christ-centered home and school we believe that a well-rounded education teaches the whole child: body, mind, and spirit, and prepares young people for more than just a career. It prepares them for life.
Accredited by the Mississippi State Department of Education, the junior high and high school have an excellent academic program with a strong Christian emphasis. We are blessed with dedicated faculty and staff providing quality instruction and individualized attention. The composite ACT score is above the state average and over 90% of graduates attend college. Daily Bible studies, weekly devotion groups, and monthly chapel services enhance opportunities for spiritual growth and worship.
FCA continues refining the student work program to develop skills in horsemanship, crafts, computer skills, landscaping, and building projects. Students interested in radio broadcasting are able to intern at WFCA Radio Station, a 100,000-watt Christian Radio Station owned and operated by FCA. By giving students an opportunity to work, they learn a strong work ethic that will carry them into the future.
FCA supports a competitive sports program including football, baseball, basketball, cheerleading, softball, track, and tennis. FCA maintains a stable of horses and students interested in horsemanship can participate in the horse program. Students can compete academically with other schools in Quiz Bowl, Beta Club, and Math & Science Tournaments. Healthy competition allows students to learn teamwork and sportsmanship.
A new program was rolled out in early August of 2017 spear-headed by Reni Bumpas, an FCA house parent. Trained adults are paired with students who can invest time and energy to accomplish a specific purpose. Many young people coming out of broken family situations need an extra measure of grace and guidance to help build a future plan for their life. If mentoring by loving, wise adults don’t occur, then often teenagers move through early adulthood floundering with very little direction.
Staff was trained with new tools needed to walk students down a career path. Life Coaching at FCA teaches students how to design a resume’ of experiences, learn more about their unique personality traits, develop a “life purpose statement,” shadow adults at work, and much more.
FCA hosts a variety of annual activities and partners with groups to broaden the experiences and learning opportunities for our students. Upcoming events include FCA Rodeo, Frontier Day, Stargaze at Rainwater Observatory, His Little Feet, and Harvest Festival. Friends of FCA are always welcome and encouraged to attend these events.
