East Webster Elementary School will be hosting a Spring Fling STEM Family Night from 5-7 p.m. April 4 at the EWES gym.
Come out to experience a night of inquiry, discovery and fun through simple hands-on experiments. Family Night will allow parents to become more involved in their child’s education, and spark an interest in science, technology, engineering and math.
Tickets are on sale for $5 per student or $6 at the door. Contact the EWES office or an elementary teacher to purchase. Parents get in free with students.
This event will consist of different booths involving either science, technology, engineering or mathematics activities. Students will rotate through the stations with their parents every 10-15 minutes completing experiments or participating in demonstrations about fun STEM concepts. These will include Oobleck, elephant toothpaste, robotics, Build a Boat, penny lab, probability game, photo booth and pentominoes.
Special guests for the event include WCBI Weather, Mississippi State University Chemistry and Anthropology Depts., 4-County Electric, Mississippi Museum of Natural Science, Webster County Soil and Water Conservation District, STEMpact of MSU and many others.
Concessions will be available for purchase during the event. Door prizes will be drawn for participating students at the end of the night.
Funds raised from this event will be used to purchase technology for classrooms.
