In order to make necessary repairs to the boat-launching ramp at Whites Creek Lake, the Eupora Board of Aldermen has authorized the Water Department to begin lowering the lake level.
This will allow the city to fully expose the ramp so that it can make the needed repairs.
The city said in a notice its hope is that it can accomplish this project over the winter while traffic on the lake is low and have the repairs completed before the spring rains arrive.
“We have contacted our Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks biologist, who has advised us that lowering the lake slowly will have no negative impact on the fish populations and they have agreed to be involved in this project,” the notice stated.
Lowering the lake will also allow citizens who live around the lake an opportunity to do any needed work or repairs on their existing docks, retaining walls or other structures.
“We appreciate your support and patience as we try to maintain and improve this community resource,” the city stated. “If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your alderman or City Hall at 662-258-2291.”
