Yolanda Pruitt, project director with the Mississippi Tobacco-Free Coalition of Oktibbeha, Clay and Lowndes Counties, presented storytime Friday at the Maben Public Library.
This is through a grant funded by the Mississippi Department of Health. She read a story titled “Dylan the Smokey Dragon,” which teaches the importance of staying tobacco free and avoiding secondhand smoke.
Dylan the Dragon made an appearance, which was interesting. The story, besides teaching the children the hazards of smoking, showed rhyming words that they got to match. They also put together pictures to tell the story sequence.
Ms. Pruitt gave the children all a happy. We also planted flowers for mothers in honor of Mother’s Day on Sunday.
This week will be the last storytime until the fall. But Summer Reading will start June 11 and go through July 9 on Tuesdays at 10 a.m.
