The Winston County Chapter of Ducks Unlimited held its annual banquet, at Lake Tiak O’Khata this past Thursday night, and according to Chapter President Harry Tabor the banquet grossed around $24K.
The banquet included a social hour, a catered meal, followed by an auction and raffles. The auction included many Ducks Unlimited licensed products, including the rifle, pistol and shotgun of the year. This year’s biggest auction item, a Benelli 12-guage Shotgun of the Year, went for $6.8.
Ten percent of the funds are used in Mississippi, with much of the money going to Canada where waterfowl actually hatch their young before migrating south. The funds are used for wetland preservation which not only benefits waterfowl, but all types of wildlife and even affects water quality for humans in many instances.
