Drs. to contribute to growing group of full-service eye clinics
Meridian, MS— Mississippi Eye Care is excited to welcome two doctors that have recently joined the brand’s growing group of optometry clinics. Drs. Channing Bucklew and Trent Stribling, both graduates of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Optometry, joined the Mississippi Eye Care team in July 2019.
Dr. Bucklew practices at the Louisville and Macon clinics of Mississippi Eye Care, while Dr. Stribling practices at Mississippi Eye Care’s Newton, Philadelphia and Union offices.
“Both of these doctors were born and raised in Louisville and Philadelphia, respectively, and made the decision to return home to live and practice optometry,” said Austin Dudley, Chief Operating Officer of Mississippi Eye Care. “These days there are not a lot of doctors returning home to practice.”
A native of Philadelphia, Mississippi, Dr. Stribling earned a Bachelor of Biological Sciences from Mississippi State University (MSU) in 2015. He went on to earn his Doctorate of Optometry from UAB in May 2019. As a student at UAB, Dr. Stribling was a member of Private Practice Club and National Optometric Student Association. He is currently a member of the Mississippi Optometric Association and American Optometric Association. Also a member of First United Methodist Church in Philadelphia, he enjoys the outdoors, golfing and following his favorite sports teams.
“Having Dr. Stribling join our practice is very unique in that he will be the third generation of Stribling doctors to practice optometry in Phildadelphia,” Dudley said. “Regardless of the field you are in, it is always special to see someone carry on a family business for multiple generations.”
A native of Louisville, Mississippi, Dr. Bucklew is a 2019 graduate of UAB. He received his Associate of Sciences degree from East Central Community College, Bachelor of Sciences degree from MSU, and Doctor of Optometry from UAB. As a student at UAB, he was a member of the BSK Honor Society, American Optometric Association, American Academy of Optometry, and Mississippi Optometric Association. He and his wife, Hannah, are current residents of Louisville, Mississippi. Dr. Bucklew enjoys sports, fishing, and other outdoor activities.
“It is very rewarding to see Dr. Bucklew practicing in Louisville,” Dudley said. “Shortly out of high school, Dr. Bucklew began shadowing in our office because he wanted to go to optometry school. It’s nice to see a guy who worked through his breaks in college, be able to practice optometry in his home town is a good feeling.”
