June 12-18
Wednesday Mrs. LaDonna Caffey and Mr. Duane Shurden came in and done their fine singing. Later was bingo; we love bingo! But this week we had a surprise. They told us the Starkville High Steppers were here, so we all agreed to skip bingo and catch the show. Good choice. They are so good I get tired just watching them.
Thursday the Heavenly Highway Singers always harmonize so well. Thursday afternoon came and it was my time to lead the singing. I went to get my guitar and it was out of tune, so I tuned. I came back and they were not in the dining room. They had moved to the activity room.
I noticed Jami Brown and his wife were here listening in. He is the son of our own Virginia Brown. He is a singer; his granddaughter sings with Garrett Oswalt. They sing at the Longview Opry. So I am surrounded with singing talent. I need some of it to rub off on me. Ha-ha.
Saturday some of us went to the antique car show (Summer Cruisin’). Plenty of great old cars. Some old and some not so old. Saturday night I got to go to Calhoun City to see some good old-fashioned quartet singing. We had so much fun I was 10 minutes late getting back. Had to get Mary to open the door. She did with a smile. Thank you Mary.
Sunday was great with time with Bro Hill, Sunday School and Center Grove Baptist Church that afternoon. Monday was porch time with ice cream sandwiches and later Penny Auction. I usually can try to outbid someone just to make it fun.. This time it didn’t work; I ended up with something girly and pretty so I gave it to the one that was bidding against me. Better luck next time.

Wednesday Mr. and Mrs. Huggins were on vacation. We missed them . So we did our own singing, poor substitute for him but we enjoyed ours as well. Bingo came with chocolate today; didn’t know it was National Chocolate Day. That should be every day.
Thursday afternoon Mr. Gamble, Ms. Greenlee and Ro Ratliff sang a bit. Did a fantastic job. Friday was banana split day. They were oh so good!
Monday some of the men went on an outing for Father’s Day. We rode up to Nail’s Restaurant for lunch, and afterwards went to French Camp and Little Mountain and looked around. It was a great trip.
The Tuesday singing was in the dining room but that didn’t dampen our singing one bit. We packed in there like sardines.
Bet you didn’t know this, but in Texas it got so hot they had to feed their chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying hard-boiled eggs.
