WALTHALL — The Old Choctaw County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution presented the new American flag that is flying over the Webster County Courthouse on Aug. 2.
Beth Duncan, chapter regent, presented the flag to the Webster County Board of Supervisors: Doug Burgess, Paul Crowley, Pat Cummings, Curtis “Eudy” Morris and Randy Rico.
As the flag was flying the group sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” and saluted the flag with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Attending the flag presentation ceremony were local DAR members Sandra Lobrano, Sheila Fondren, Sue Boatman, Rachel Hunt and Frances Smith. Other officials in attendance included Chancery Clerk Russ Turner and Board Attorney Buchannan Meek.
For more than a century the Daughters of the American Revolution have been dedicated to historical preservation, education and patriotism. The Old Choctaw County Chapter is located in Webster County.
