Mike Rozier of McCarley and owner of Mike Rozier Construction Co. was the guest speaker at First Baptist Church of Eupora’s monthly Men’s Prayer Breakfast on June 6. His construction company built and erected both Christ’s Cross at the Crossroads in Winona and The Cross in Batesville.
After the prayer breakfast, men were asked to reflect on what Rozier’s talk on The Cross of Christ meant to them.
The Rev. Willy Weddle shares, “Several things impressed me concerning Mike’s talk about the cross, but two things I will share. First is, his genuine love for Christ and the cross. Second is, he will not receive pay for his work on erecting the cross. He said he will donate his time and some of his equipment for the project. Outstanding! Now it’s time for us as believers in Christ to get behind our cross project and pray, promote and give.”
Marty Crowder states, ”My son and I were discussing the cross project and its purpose … a story from the Bible came to mind. In Mark 14:1-9 it is written about a woman that anoints Jesus with a very expensive jar of perfume. Some of those present complained to one another about how the perfume could have been sold and the money given to the poor. Jesus told them that the woman had done a great thing in honoring him and he told them that the poor will always be in need of help too.”
Charlie Shaw reflects, “Mike is so dedicated and committed to the building of the cross. … so very qualified, giving of his time, getting materials at a discount and doing every possible way he can to cut costs because it is the Lord’s money. Mike is a great example of a businessman committed to Christ.”
Buddy Thompson states, “Listening to Brother Mike brought back the meaning of the cross. It stands for Christ dying for us so that we can be saved and we don’t have to die like he did to be saved. The most emotional part of his presentation was him expressing the feeling, the sense of the Holy Spirit as the massive cross erects. I certainly want to witness our cross going up.”
Chad Winter reflects, “I thought two great points Mike emphasized were how the cross was there for even a wretched person like himself, as he said. The cross is for everyone, regardless of social or economic class, status, race, gender or any other variable mankind has deemed important. God recognizes everyone’s wretchedness; none are perfect, and all have sinned. Therefore, the sacrifice made on the cross is for everyone.
“Secondly, much discussion has been made on how financing of the cross in Winona, Batesville and now Eupora could have been better utilized for other causes. Certainly, many other causes are worthy and practically infinite. But, no one can judge, or even interpret, how God leads another in fulfilling the purpose of spreading God’s word. God calls people in different ways for different works and I think clearly, God’s call was heard in the initiation of The Cross of Christ project for this area.”
