The Controllers Generation II and III 4-H clubs sponsored a county safety cookout workshop on May 13. Members from three other clubs participated.
Dr. Thomas Nyatta, Extension agent, provided information on how to prepare for the Oktibbeha County cookout contest in June. Students also gained hand-on experience for grilling safely.
“I am going to grill for Father’s Day since I learned so much about it,” stated KiArri Roberts, a 12-year-old member of the Controllers Generation III 4-H Club.
The clubs enjoyed steaks, hamburgers and hot dogs. The club got a good laugh because people were stopping by because they thought food could be purchased. They were happy to enjoy the food for free. Two children completed applications to join 4-H.
The Controllers will host a summer workshop in June titled D’MAP. It will consist of dance, music, art and poetry. Several individuals received scholarships through the Starkville Arts Council to attend. For further information, contact 662-242-7962.
