The Choctaw County Sheriff’s Department recently made two arrests in connection with an ongoing theft operation involving four counties that.
Deputies arrested Levi Kelly, 35, and Taylor Johnson, 25, and charged both with grand larceny.
The sheriff’s department, along with the Ackerman Police Department, is investigating the thefts of ATV’s, horse trailers and cargo trailers in the four counties of Choctaw, Webster, Montgomery, Oktibbeha, and Carroll. The thefts are believed to be connected to a methamphetamine drug operation.
Law enforcement agencies in those counties are assisting and working closely together with the sheriff’s office to investigate and search for more evidence.
Choctaw County Sheriff Cloyd Halford stated there are currently no updates on the investigation and that it is ongoing, with more arrests to be made.
Body of Weir infant sent for autopsy
The Weir community is in mourning following the sudden death of a six-month old infant.
According to multiple reports, Choctaw County Coroner Keith Coleman confirmed that the body of a six-month infant from Weir was sent for an autopsy to Pearl. The cause of death is unknown at this time.
Authorities at this time are awaiting for more information before charges, if any, are filed. Choctaw County Cloyd Halford stated there was no progress to the case at this time and he and the department were waiting on more information.
